Appeal For Witnesses To Road Traffic Collision At Blackgang
Aug 29th, 2008 | By Duncan Smith | In: Appeal, Government, Islandwide, Isle of Wight, NewsPolice are appealing for information after a road traffic collision involving a car and two motorcycles at Blackgang on the Isle of Wight.
The vehicles were involved in the collision on Blackgang Road between 6.50pm and 7.00pm on Wednesday, August 27th.
The two motorcycles were travelling from Freshwater towards Niton when they collided with a green Rover 25 on the roundabout near Blackgang Chine theme park.
Four people were travelling in the Rover: the driver, a man in his 30s, and three passengers: one woman, also in her 30s, and two young boys, all from Scunthorpe, South Humberside.
All four were left shocked by the collision, and the adult female passenger received minor cuts.
One motorcycle rider, a 53-year-old man from Totland, was later arrested on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a road accident, and dangerous driving.
PC Clive Richardson from the Roads Policing Unit at Shanklin said:
“I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this collision, or who saw three motorcycles travelling together on the A3055 Military Road between Freshwater and Blackgang on Wednesday evening.
“The motorcycles are described as a green Kawasaki, a red white blue Honda Fireblade, and a red Cagiva Raptor.”
