Appeal For Witnesses To Freshwater Collision

Police are investigating a road traffic collision involving a coach and a car near Freshwater on the Isle of Wight.
 
At approximately 3.35pm on Wednesday, August 20th, a maroon Rover 600 travelling from Yarmouth towards Freshwater was involved in a head-on collision with a coach, which was travelling in the opposite direction, along Hill Lane.
 
Two people, a man and a woman, were travelling in the Rover 600.
 
They were released from the car by firefighters, and taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Newport to be treated for minor injuries.
 
A number of people travelling on the coach also suffered minor injuries.
 
Road closures and diversions are in place on Hill Lane at Colwell Road, and the junction with Pixley Hill.
 
Hill Lane is expected to remain closed until 6.00pm while police investigate at the scene of the collision.
 
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision. Anyone who saw what happened, or either vehicle before the collision, is asked to contact PC Geoff Turner at Shanklin Roads Policing Unit on 0845 045 45 45 or call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
