Jul 3rd, 2009 | By Duncan Smith | Isle of Wight News From The Island Pulse

Police are appealing for information after allegations of injuries caused by a dog on the Isle of Wight.

The West Wight Safer Neighbourhoods Team is investigating a number of reports from the Freshwater and Totland areas between April and June this year.

Officers are aware of five dogs and one person who were injured in alleged incidents involving a dog where a similar description was given.

One woman and her Irish setter were both injured by another dog whilst walking through the recreation ground near The Broadway, Totland, Isle of Wight on Friday, June 12, 2009.

The dog was described as a white English Bull terrier or similar breed.

Police are reminding all owners to keep their dogs under control in public places or they can face prosecution if the animal’s behaviour causes alarm and distress.

Anyone with information or who has been affected by a dog injury in the West Wight this year is asked to contact Yarmouth Police Station by phoning 101 or 0845 045 45 45.
