Following the news: Vestas Blade Blockade Steps Up The Pressure
Police can confirm a man was arrested on Wednesday, September 9th, 2009 outside the Vestas wind turbine blade factory, Monks Brook, Newport, Isle of Wight.
John Noel Gerrish, aged 70, of Aylesford, Kent was later charged with an assault by beating (battery) against a member of security staff on Sunday, September 6th, 2009. He was bailed to appear before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on Tuesday, September 15th, 2009.
In a separate incident on Wednesday, September 9th, 2009, police issued a dispersal order under Section 27 of the Violent Crime Reduction Act 2006 to a 53-year-old man from London who was seen by police to assault a security guard. The 53-year-old man was instructed not to return to the Monks Brook area of Newport, Isle of Wight for 48 hours.
