Alleged Assault On Boy in Ryde

Police on the Isle of Wight are investigating an allegation of assault on a 10-year-old boy outside Premier Stores, St John’s Road, Ryde.
 
The victim was cycling on the road up St John’s Road between 3.00pm and 3.30pm on Saturday, October 4 when an unknown youth stepped into his path, causing the cyclist to brake and go on to the pavement.
 
The same youth who stepped in front of him is then alleged to have approached the victim, and threatened him. At the same time, a second unknown youth is alleged to have approached the victim, and verbally abused him.
 
The victim has told police these two youths were part of a larger group, who were stood by the Premier Shop at the time.
 
The victim refused to give the youths his bike, and the first youth is then alleged to have assaulted the 10-year-old.  The victim, who lives in Ryde, was not injured, but was left shaken by what happened after he was able to cycle away from the scene.
 
The suspects walked away in the direction of Ryde St. John’s Railway Station.
 
The first youth, who is alleged to have assaulted the victim, is described as:
 
White
aged 12 – 13 years-old
Slim build
Cuts over his nose and face
 
The first youth was wearing a black and brown hooded jumper with long sleeves
 
The second youth, who is alleged to have verbally abused the victim, is described as:
 
White
aged 13 – 14 years-old
Slim build
Short, brown, ginger and white hair, which was spiky on top
 
The second youth was wearing a blue and white horizontal striped T-shirt.
