Adventurists Whistle Stop Tour On Wight
Jun 29th, 2009 | By Jenny Button | Isle of Wight News From The Island PulseThe Adventurists who offer a very modern solution to the age old endeavour – the role of the travelling troubador, this week begin a fifteen show – five day tour of the Isle of Wight.
With assistance from Vaguely Sunny, the Adventurists will be touring the Isle of Wight from the 29th June to the 4th July where they will be playing in environments from Botanic Gardens to theme parks, beaches to forests, historic homes to lighthouses and nearly everything in theory you can think of in between, taking their entertainment to the masses.
Adventurists utilise Celtic Harp, Steel Pan, a homemade drum kit and electric and acoustic guitars to bring their songs and stories to life. Touring on two bicycles towing a mini mobile pop out stage and a small solar powered PA. Using only pedals they use the sun to power their shows.
In the spring of 2008, a chance encounter caused Sam Walker and Daniel Clark’s paths to cross. Within days they had collaborated on a version of british folk tune ‘Matty Groves’ laden with horns and swamp guitars, and within a matter of months they were on the road together touring the British isles.
Less of a band, more of a collaboration of two solo performers, The Adventurists utilise Celtic Harp, Double Bass, Steel pan, homemade drum kits and electric & acoustic guitars to bring their songs and stories to life. With a shared desire to take each night as it comes, and each with a wealth of material,
The Adventurists are touring UK and Europe throughout June 2009. Expect an evening of musical magic, sonorous spoken word, performance swapping and off the cuff tomfoolery with maverick modern storytelling and multi-instrumental songsmithery. Working closely with a trunkful of instruments, two unruly voices and the audience, they guarantee a different show every night!
