Isle of Wight Police investigating an assault on an elderly man near Newport Bus station are appealing for information.
The incident occurred between 5.45pm and 5.55pm on Wednesday, 2 January 2013 when a 74-year-old man was left with cuts and bruises after being attacked by a group of youths.
His injuries included a very swollen hand, cuts to his nose and lip and he was left with very painful ribs and stiffness.
Investigating Officer PC Alan Spence said: “This is a rare assault which h appened in a busy area of Newport during a period where numerous people wou ld have been in Newport bus station and may have witnessed the incident.
We would ask anyone with information to contact Newport Police Station on 1 01. Alternatively, you can call the charity Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.”
