Round the Island Success For Young Islanders.

Six Isle of Wight youngsters are celebrating after completing this year’s challenging Round the Island Race. 
The group, who had never taken part in the race before were sailing onboard Seaquest 32, ‘Paddiywack’ (pictured) with the Island Youth Water Activities Centre (IYWAC).

New Recruits For IW Fire & Rescue Service.

The latest recruits to the Isle of the Wight Fire and Rescue Service will formally join the service at a passing out ceremony in Ryde on Friday 4th July.  The seven new recruits will join the retained duty system of the service following an intensive training programme.

Twin Support For Expectant Mums.

The NHS midwifery team on the Isle of Wight is looking to bump up support for women expecting twins.
 
Led by Consultant Obstetrician Sabeena Allahdin, the team are setting up a new support group called the Island Twin Club to give women more information about their pregnancy, labour, pain relief and breast feeding.



Rolex Commodores Cup: Day One

Conditions on day one of the Rolex Commodores Cup  2008, could not have been better for the 45 boat fleet.  After a two hour delay waiting for the wind to fill in, the event got underway shortly before lunchtime with two windward-leeward inshore races in the Western Solent.
