Frontline sign of the times are Tri-signs, which have been attached to lampposts on seven streets around Ryde. 
Tri-signs, is just one weapon in the Isle of Wight’s armoury to combat anti-social behaviour and criminal damage at the start of the summer tourist season.

Oxfam are recruiting volunteers for the 2008 festival season.  There are two ways young people can volunteer, either as a Steward or a Campaigner and applications are now open to the general public.

Unison Workers Strike Action.

Local authority workers are set to take two days of strike action next month in a bitter row over pay.  Ratification of date confirmation is expected by Friday.



Payroll Giving To Offset Footprint

The Woodland Trust is challenging businesses to follow Royal Mail Group’s example in enabling its people to offset their carbon emissions by planting trees.
Royal Mail employees can give tax free contributions direct from their wage packets to the UK charity, which then spends the money on planting new trees in one of its 1,000 sites.



Isle of Wight Veterans Day.

National Veterans Day is marked on the Isle of Wight, on Friday, with an outdoor service (weather permitting) at Northwood House in Cowes.
Hundreds of war veterans living on the Isle of Wight, are expected to take part in a day of celebration to respect their careers and remember their colleagues.
