Simon Blackmore reports:   Bestival 2008 is a sell out!  With an incredible line-up that includes indie giants My Bloody Valentine, queen of soulful pop Amy Winehouse and techno titans Underworld in the headline slots, 30,000 tickets have sold out with almost 6 months to spare!

Carolyn Keene reports: Latest figures from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) state: accidents at work are costing Isle of Wight and Hampshire, £23.5m and every 25 minutes, someone breaks or fractures a bone at work.

As a result the HSE has now launched the ‘Shattered Lives’ campaign, to highlight the devastating consequences of simple slips, trips and falls in the workplace. (more…)

Isle of Wight Climate Change Action Event.

Ray Harrington-Vail reports:  Recycling and Climate Change – a load of rubbish?   The Riverside Centre is to host an information evening which will look at the links between waste, recycling and Climate Change.

The Island is one of the top local authorities for domestic waste recycling. Shortly a new Gasification plant will come on stream which will convert combustible material from households and businesses into energy for some 2000 homes. (more…)

Isle of Wight Schools Affected By NUT Strike.
