Skandia Cowes Week is recognised as the ‘must do’ sailing regatta on the international sporting calendar.  It is the longest-running and largest sailing regatta of its kind in the World with the first ever Cowes Week being held in 1826. (more…)

Wightlink To Wi-Fi Ferries Online.

Carolyn Keene reports:  Wightlink are hoping to improve passenger experience by equipping ferries running between the Isle of Wight and the mainland with on-board Internet.

The implementation of in-ship broadband Internet connectivity and potential public Wi-Fi hotspot services, is part of a major modernization program on Wightlink ferries. (more…)

Project to Smarten Up Ryde Interchange.

David Newble reports:  Town Centre Managers in Ryde are spearheading a community project to smarten up the town’s bus and rail interchange.

Part of the project will involve a local artist and members of the community coming together to create a mural based on the Seven Wonders of the Isle of Wight and linked with the Travelsafe scheme which is co-ordinated through the Community Rail Partnership. (more…)

PA reports:  Princes William and Harry are reported to have spent the weekend with a gang of friends mixing with locals in a host of pubs and restaurants on the Isle of Wight.

The royal brothers were in Cowes on Friday and Saturday night taking part in drinking games and watching bands in what could have been stag celebrations for a friend. (more…)

Isle of Wight Grand National 2008Carolyn Keene reports:  The results are now in for the Isle of Wight Grand National Scurry 2008 which took place on Sunday.  Due to snow on the track, the five class events for riders and horses, took place a week later than planned.  Results available now click HERE:
