Health Secretary Patricia hewitt has announced that the Smoking Ban for all enclosed public places and workplaces will begin on 1st July 2007  Island Pulse Community Information

Ms Hewitt said: “This is a triumph for public health and a huge step forward for health protection.  Thousands of people’s lives will be saved and the health of thousands more protected.   Smoke-free legislation will protect everyone from the harm of second-hand smoke when working, socialising and relaxing and will provide a more supportive environment for smokers who wish to give up.”  (more…)

SJA National First Aid Competition.

St. John Ambulance (SJA) is now seeking entrants for its nationwide schools’ First Aid competition which offers a fun way for 7 to 15 year olds to learn first aid. 

Youngsters will pit their skills against their peers to win honours and a share of £2,800 in prize money for their schools to spend on equipment.  (more…)

Help Oxfam Get 9 Pennies from Heaven.

Nine huge pennies descended on London this week as 118 918 was introduced to the Capital. Oxfams promotional team of over 30 staff got the launch rolling by pushing 9 huge pennies around London spreading the good news about 118 918.

The future of the South East for the next 20 years is the subject of a crucial debate starting today 28th November.
 
The South East Regional Assembly submitted its 20 year regional draft plan to the Government in March this year.  The Plan covers the county areas of Kent, East and West Sussex, Surrey, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight Special Policy Area.  (more…)
