23rd – 30th November 2009: 150th Anniversary of the Floating Bridge Exhibition at East Cowes Heritage Centre.
This year sees Cowes floating bridge celebrate its 150th anniversary. The year 2009 also marks the centenary of the fourth floating bridge, commissioned from boatbuilder White’s for £3,200.
To celebrate, East Cowes Heritage is staging an exhibition at East Cowes Town Hall on November 21st between 11am and 5pm. There will be a cake-cutting ceremony at 2.30pm and an illustrated talk at 3pm.
All will be very welcome but we especially would like to hear from any past crew members or others with special memories of the floating bridge. The exhibition will transfer to East Cowes Heritage Centre until February 2010. Admission free, but donations appreciated.
